asked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the representation sent to him from the Surrey County Council regarding the need for hospital treatment for aged sick persons in welfare establishments and voluntary homes; and what action he proposes to take.

The Minister of Health (Mr. Marquand)

Yes, Sir. But the trouble is one of shortage of staffed beds and is bound to take time to put right.

Can the Minister hold out any encouragement that he will take action in these matters?

Mr. Marquand

Yes, Sir, action to, increase the number of beds available is going on all the time.
