HC Deb 12 April 1951 vol 486 c1186
45. Mr. Gammans

asked the Prime Minister if, in view of the dangers of growing misunderstanding between our selves and the United States of America arising out of our failure to agree on political aims in Korea, he proposes to suggest a further conference between him self and President Truman.

Mr. Ede

I have been asked to reply. No, Sir. There has been no misunderstanding or failure to agree on political aims in Korea.

Mr. Gammans

Would not the right hon. Gentleman agree that however good ordinary negotiations may be, it is essential that there should be between heads of appropriate Governments periodical discussions from time to time, and that it is especially necessary at this time to convince our American friends that in essential aims we are in agreement with them?

Mr. Ede

I do not think they have any doubt on that matter.
