§ 29. Mr. Douglas Marshallasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that, in view of the re-armament programme, material will be in short supply for fishermen's nets; and if he will give an assurance that sufficient material will be set aside for the necessary replacements.
§ Mr. RhodesWe have no evidence that the demands of the re-armament programme are likely to jeopardise the supplies of raw material required for making fishermen's nets, but if any shortage appears likely to develop we will consider taking any steps practicable to ensure adequate supplies.
§ Mr. MarshallI am obliged to the Parliamentary Secretary for that reply. Has he any information about manila supplies?
§ Mr. RhodesThere is an additional quantity available for fishermen amounting to 4,000 tons per annum, to be allocated at 1,000 tons per quarter, starting in July.
