asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can inform the House of the reply received from the Persian Government to the British Government's Note of 14th March, concerning the Persian proposals to nationalise the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company's interests in that country.

The Persian Government's reply to our Note to them of 14th March was handed to His Majesty's Ambassador on 8th April, and a copy is being made available in the Library today.

Is the whole question of the nationalisation of the oil industry in Persia now being considered at a conference between ourselves and the United States?

We are in discussion with the United States about the general oil problem in the Middle East. No doubt this will be one of the features of the discussion.
