32. Mr. Hurd

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he has considered the recommendations made by the Nigerian Livestock Mission; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. J. Griffiths

The report of the Mission is at present under detailed examination by the Nigerian Government, and I am not yet in a position to make any statement on it.

Mr. Hurd

Will there be consultation with the people of Nigeria, as well as the Government of Nigeria, so as to ensure that the policy decided upon carries popular support?

Mr. Griffiths

It is under examination by the Nigerian Government and what steps they take and whom they consult is a matter for them. I am certain that they will take all steps which they think are necessary.
