asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement about the demolition of valuable workshops and equipment at the British post at Ebisu, Tokio.

Mr. Bevin

There is no question of demolishing any workshops at Ebisu. Some old Japanese machinery is being broken up as scrap and I am writing to the hon. Member with further details.

Mr. Keeling

Does the Foreign Secretary agree with the criticism that it was a waste of money to destroy this plant instead of offering it for sale?

Mr. Bevin

I will look into that.
