HC Deb 18 October 1950 vol 478 c2048
57. Brigadier Rayner

asked the Minister of Food in view of the inevitable shortage during the coming winter of corn, hay, straw and other home-grown feeding-stuffs, what arrangements he has made to import a sufficient quantity of the surplus stocks of United States maize.

Mr. Webb

Despite the dollar situation we have recently bought some maize from the United States of America. We must, of course, look for supplies from many different sources and I can assure the hon. and gallant Member that we shall lose no opportunity of supplementing available stocks.
