HC Deb 29 November 1950 vol 481 cc1154-5
52. Mr. C. I. Orr-Ewing

asked the Minister of Defence whether he will appoint liaison officers from the three Services to serve with the United Nations Forces in order to study and report on the standard of the enemy's equipment and units, and to report on the effectiveness of the equipment which our own Forces are using.

Mr. Shinwell

Officers have been appointed to carry out these tasks.

Mr. Orr-Ewing

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider making a statement to the House on the standard of equipment which the United Nations Forces are experiencing against them, in view of the rather disturbing reports which have appeared in the Press, which must be particularly disturbing to our Western allies?

Mr. Shinwell

We have appointed officers to undertake this task. So far we have no information, and I am not sure that even if we had the information it would be desirable to disclose it, at all events for some time.
