HC Deb 27 November 1950 vol 481 c768
Mr. Shepherd

asked the Minister of Transport when he expects to be able to continue the Kingsway extension, and so relieve the traffic jams in Cheadle, Cheshire.

The Minister of Transport (Mr. Barnes)

I cannot authorise an expensive work of this character until the economic situation permits a greater share of capital resources to be devoted to roads.

Mr. Shepherd

Can the Minister say what this project will cost, and when he hopes to do something serious about it?

Mr. Barnes

It is always difficult to give an exact figure, but I think that I can mention something in the neighbourhood of £400,000.
