HC Deb 27 November 1950 vol 481 c769
27. Mr. Follick

asked the Minister of Transport whether in view of the present unsatisfactory position regarding the provision of omnibus shelters and uncovered queue barriers in rural districts, he will now take steps to obtain powers to provide and erect such shelters or barriers.

Mr. Barnes

I am in consultation with the bodies concerned as to the proposals which should be laid before Parliament on this subject when opportunity offers.

44. Brigadier Medlicott

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the need for more omnibus shelters in rural areas; and if he will seek powers to enable him to provide them.

Mr. Follick

Can the Minister inform me in how many cases, under Defence Regulation 54B, directions have been issued to enable rural authorities to erect and maintain these covered queue shelters?

Mr. Barnes

I regret that I cannot give that information, but if my hon. Friend puts down a Question, I will endeavour to furnish him with the reply.
