HC Deb 23 November 1950 vol 481 c508
55. Mr. H. Fraser

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, with a view to stimulating the maximum use and supply of home-grown timber, he will consider the appointment to the Forestry Commission of one commissioner drawn from the timber trade.

Mr. T. Williams

The suggestion that an experienced timber merchant should be appointed to the Forestry Commission will be considered when recommendations are being submitted to His Majesty for filling vacancies.

Mr. Vane

Is the Minister aware that want of expert knowledge which only a timber merchant can supply has long been felt not only on the Forestry Commission but by everyone connected with the industry?
