asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the present position with regard to sterling remittances from Brazil.

Mr. Gaitskell

I am informed that the Brazilian authorities are about to devote £10 million of sterling to the liquidation of commercial arrears and hope to settle the remainder early in the New Year.
