HC Deb 21 November 1950 vol 481 c184
30. Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why the maternity unit in Belfort Hospital, Fort William, is not in use.

Mr. McNeil

The hospital authorities have not yet been able to provide accommodation for the nursing staff required, but they are doing their utmost to make temporary arrangements for this purpose.

Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether this shortage of accommodation applies to any other hospital in Scotland?

Mr. McNeil

Yes, Sir. I know of other hospitals where there is quite a marked shortage of accommodation for nurses.
