HC Deb 09 November 1950 vol 480 cc1121-2
Mr. Donnelly

(by Private Notice) asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he can give the House any information about the fire which took place in a small arms factory at Pembroke Dock yesterday.

Mr. Ede

I am informed by the Chief Constable of Pembrokeshire that police inquiries are being made into the cause of this fire. Dr. J. B. Firth, who is director of one of the Home Office forensic science laboratories has been called in by the Chief Constable.

Mr. Donnelly

In view of the public anxiety which exists, and the rumours which are current, will my right hon. Friend give an assurance that the maximum amount of information compatible with security will be made available?

Mr. Ede

Yes, Sir. I will see that everything that can be made known about this accident is made known.
