HC Deb 01 November 1950 vol 480 c151
Mr. Speaker

Perhaps I should inform the House in view of our experience yesterday, that I understand that Mr. Speaker was absolutely silenced instead of being amplified, and he himself heard very little indeed. Obviously, we have to make experiments, and today we shall see how it goes. So far as the Floor of the House is concerned the speeches of Members will not be amplified at all. They will be transmitted to the Reporters' Gallery behind me and to the Public Gallery. We are going to talk and try to hear without the amplifiers, just as we used to do.
