May I, with your permission, Mr. Speaker, read a Petition to this House against the practice of experimenting on living animals?

This Petition, which is addressed to this honourable House, has been signed by over a quarter of a million people, and reads as follows: Your petitioners realising that the practice of experimenting on living animals in the supposed interest of mankind is continually being extended, and also realising that such practice"——

The hon. Gentleman is not allowed to read the whole Petition. He can only summarise it and then read the Prayer at the end.

It concludes: That the practice of experimenting on living animals will be prohibited by law by your honourable House, your petitioners will, in duty bound, for ever pray. Petition to lie upon the Table.
