§ 65. Lord John Hopeasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, now that the Commissioners have decided to simplify the method of issuing the practice parts of the papers in the open clerical class and limited clerical class competitions, he will order a review of those cases where disqualification has arisen from a misunderstanding of the procedure in connection with those parts.
§ Lord John HopeIs the Minister aware that in these cases of disqualification those disqualified are told by the Commissioners, who have not interviewed them, that they, the Commissioners, are satisfied that these people have deliberately tried to take unfair advantage of their fellow competitors? Would he look into this and see that apologies are sent in all these cases? It is most unfair.
§ Mr. JayI understand that this is so, but I have no reason to think that the Commissioners would say that unless they had satisfied themselves of the fact.
§ Lord John HopeHow can an accusation of dishonesty be justified when the man in question has not been interviewed by those who make the accusation? That is what has happened.
