HC Deb 22 May 1950 vol 475 cc1652-3
74. Mr. John Grimston

asked the Minister of Supply if he has any statement to make on the attitude of His Majesty's Government to the draft agreement recently drawn up at Paris by the Tin Study Group.

Mr. G. R. Strauss

The draft agreement drawn up by the Tin Study Group does not profess to be more than a working paper to serve as a basis for discussion at an International Commodity Conference. His Majesty's Government is not committed to the text of the draft but is prepared to take part in such a conference in the hope that it would be possible to agree upon a text which would be generally acceptable. The United Kingdom as a consumer of tin, and the colonial and dependent territories as producers, would be separately represented.
