§ 76. Mr. Martin Lindsayasked the Minister of Supply how many key-drive adding and calculating machines have been imported from the United States of America in each year from 1946; and whether, in order to save dollars, he will progressively reduce these imports, in view of the fact that a British firm, whose name has been sent to him, can supply the whole of the home market.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussFigures of imports of these machines from the United States are not separately recorded in the trade returns. No complete key-drive adding or calculating machines are being imported from the United States, but parts for the assembly of electric key-drive machines in this country are being imported, since only hand-operated machines are at present being manufactured here. The import of these parts is being gradually reduced.
