HC Deb 16 May 1950 vol 475 c988
8. Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will make a statement as to the future use of the underground shelter at Clapham.

Mr. Strachey

This matter is under consideration. The shelter will not be closed down for the present.

Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

Does my right hon. Friend's answer mean that the Government have decided that this shelter shall not become derelict because it might be of special value in connection with the Festival of Britain next year for the accommodation of or use by parties of young people from other parts of this country or from abroad?

Mr. Strachey

There are many people who wish to use this shelter, and it is not being closed.
