HC Deb 16 May 1950 vol 475 cc1010-1
71. Major Guy Lloyd

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many cases, to date, he will be referring to the Monopolies Commission as a result of representations made to him.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (Mr. Rhodes)

I cannot anticipate the choice of subjects for future reference.

Major Lloyd

Will the Minister give an assurance that his Department will not lend a prejudiced ear to information which may be passed on to him from snoopers or jealous competitors whose motives are by no means unprejudiced?

Mr. Rhodes

I will consider the cases on their merits.

Mr. W. Fletcher

Will the Minister take into account the activity of the Cocoa Marketing Board, with their huge profits? The Board is a monopoly.

Mr. Rhodes

Perhaps the hon. Member will put that question on the Order Paper.
