HC Deb 16 May 1950 vol 475 cc1011-2
74. Mr. J. Grimston

asked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he is taking to ascertain the views of the British Chamber of Commerce for Spain on the forthcoming revision of the Anglo-Spanish trading arrangement.

Mr. Bottomley

The Commercial Counsellor to His Majesty's Embassy, Madrid, frequently consults the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain, and I understand that in response to his invitation extended some time ago the Chamber are preparing a memorandum on the subject of the forthcoming trade talks.

Mr. Grimston

Will the hon. Gentleman read the memorandum this time, because in previous negotiations the views put forward by this very knowledgeable body have been entirely ignored?

Mr. Bottomley

That is not true.
