§ 21. Mr. McAddenasked the Minister of Health the number of motor cars enrolled in the Hospital Motor Car Service; and the total mileage covered by such motor cars in June, 1948, and in March, 1950.
§ Mr. McAddenAlthough this information may not be available in detail, surely it is within the knowledge of the Minister that there is a considerable mileage being covered by these vehicles? As they are of such service to his Department, will the right hon. Gentleman consider making representations about the increased cost of petrol, as it affects these people?
§ Mr. BevanNo, because as most of this money is provided by the Exchequer and by the local authorities it is a bookkeeping transaction.
§ Mr. McAddenIn view of the fact that the mileage payment which is made is based upon the figures of the cost of petrol before it was increased by 11½d., or nearly 50 per cent., will the Minister think about it again?
§ Mr. SpeakerThat does not arise out of this Question, which only asks for the number of motor cars and the mileage.
