HC Deb 10 May 1950 vol 475 c380
56. Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Food what quantities of tea will be imported from India and Ceylon, respectively, during the current year; and how they compare with the shipments last year.

Mr. F. Willey

We have reached agreement with the Governments of India and Ceylon about the best way of procurement this year but have yet to conclude contracts with individual producers. I cannot, therefore, say yet how much tea we shall get from them in 1950.

Mr. Russell

Can the hon. Gentleman say when he will be able to give the amounts? Has this not already been delayed long enough?

Mr. Willey

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will put down a Question.

Sir H. Williams

Was there any shortage of tea before the hon. Gentleman's Department interfered with it?

Mr. Remnant

Has the price been agreed?

Mr. Willey

Yes, Sir.
