HC Deb 10 May 1950 vol 475 c366
34. Mr. John Grimston

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he will consider making Royal Air Force transport available to officers commanding Air Training Corps units to enable these units to make journeys to certain named displays, such as the Royal Air Force and the Society of British Aircraft Constructors displays and the Royal Tournament.

The Under-Secretary of State for Air (Mr. Crawley)

I regret that it is not possible to entertain this proposal which, apart from the question of finance, would place too great a burden on R.A.F. transport facilities. Arrangements are being made to admit cadets, schools and youth organisations free of charge to the dress rehearsal of the R.A.F. Display at Farnborough. The number anticipated is from 60,000 to 75,000, of whom about 10,000 will be A.T.C. cadets.
