§ 15. Mr. McInnesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of local authorities who have complained of defects in non-traditional houses; the total number of houses involved; and the approximate additional cost to the local authorities in remedying the defects.
Mr. McNeilThe remedying of defects is primarily a matter between local authorities and their contractors and I have no complete information on the subject. Where defects have arisen, contractors have agreed to remedy them without cost to local authorities.
§ Mr. McInnesIs my right hon. Friend aware that the Government have already undertaken to meet the additional cost of carrying out repairs in respect of three types of non-traditional house?
Commander GalbraithHas the right hon. Gentleman any evidence to show that the upkeep, the cost of maintenance, of these houses is greater than for traditional houses?
Mr. McNeilI would rather have notice of that question. I regret that I cannot answer it without notice.
