§ 22. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the grant made to the British Council for welfare work among colonial students, he had made or will make it 1664 conditional on the co-operation of the British Council in this respect with student and educational or other organisations recognised as of service to colonial students.
§ Mr. J. GriffithsI am glad to be able to assure my hon. Friend that the British Council themselves made this co-operation one of t'ae conditions of their accepting the grant.
§ Mr. SorensenWould my right hon. Friend indicate with what other bodies the British Council are co-operating at the present time? Is it not highly desirable that this Council, to which very considerable responsibility has been delegated, should seek the largest operative co-operation with other bodies?
§ Mr. GriffithsThe Council have brought other bodies into active co-operation, including the Colonial Students' Union of Africa.
