§ 28. Lieut.-Commander Clark Hutchisonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether it is intended to introduce legislation, as recommended in the Final Report of the Guthrie Committee, to continue the Tenancy of Shops (Scotland) Act, 1949, for a further period of five years.
§ Miss HerbisonMy right hon. Friend is considering the Committee's recommendations in consultation with my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade, but I regret that it is not yet possible to make a statement.
§ Lieut.-Commander Hutchisonis the hon. Lady aware that there is some urgency in this matter, and that it is not controversial because we on this side supported the passage of the existing Act.
§ Miss HerbisonThe existing Act does not expire until 31st December of this year, and I am certain that before that time something will be done.
