HC Deb 29 March 1950 vol 473 cc405-6

The following Question stood upon the Order Paper in the name of Mr. MANNINGHAM-BULLER:

45. To ask the Prime Minister whether the Committee on Intermediaries, set up in February, 1949, has concluded its deliberations; and whether its report is to be published.

The Prime Minister

As the hon. and learned Member for Northants, South (Mr. Manningham-Buller), is unavoidably prevented from being in his place this afternoon to ask me Question 45, I should like, with your permission, Mr. Speaker, to read out the answer to that Question now. It is as follows:

Yes, Sir, the Committee has concluded its deliberations and its Report is being published in the form of a White Paper which is available to hon. Members in the Vote Office. I should like to take this opportunity of thanking Sir Edwin Herbert and the other members of the Committee for their work, and of saying that the Government accept in general the conclusions of the Report and are taking steps to put into effect its recommendations.
