7. Mr. Wardasked the Secretary of State for War when the Norbury House Hotel, Droitwich, is to be released by his Department.
§ Mr. StracheyNorbury House Hotel is used for housing the families of serving Regular soldiers who in most cases would otherwise be homeless. I cannot say when it will be possible to release this property.
Mr. WardIs the Minister aware that this hotel is urgently required by the Midland Regional Hospital Board as a new hospital, and that because Droitwich is a spa there are many advantages in having a new hospital there? Will he bear this in mind and try to release this hotel as soon as possible?
§ Mr. StracheyCertainly.
8. Mr. Wardasked the Secretary of State for War what action he is taking in the case of Mrs. Donald, No. 15, Families Camp, Norbury House, Droitwich, particulars of which have been sent to him.
§ Mr. StracheyMrs. Donald was discharged from employment on the staff of this camp in February, 1950, as she was surplus to the establishment. I am afraid that she must, therefore, be required to vacate the staff accommodation she now occupies in the hotel. But I am taking up the matter with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health. She will not be required to vacate her room pending these inquiries.
