§ 49. Captain Ryderasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what representation he has made to the Spanish Government regarding the alleged discrimination against British shipping at Las Palmas on 16th March.
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesHis Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires drew the attention of the Spanish Ministry for Foreign Affairs to the alleged discrimination on 8th March. It was pointed out that the action of the Spanish authorities seemed to contravene Article 16 of the Anglo-Spanish Treaty of Commerce and Navigation of 1922. These representations were repeated on 16th March. I understand 34 that orders have now been given by the Spanish authorities that there shall be no flag discrimination, but no official reply has yet been received by His Majesty's Embassy.
