asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what is the value of Government stores and supplies, the property of his Department, that have been lost in transit on the railways each year since the railways were nationalised.

Losses of and damage to naval material in transit on the railways in the financial year 1st April, 1948, to 31 March, 1949, were valued at £13,737. Information relating to the current financial year is not immediately available, but I will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as it has been received.
