HC Deb 16 March 1950 vol 472 c1262
The Minister of Health (Mr. Aneurin Bevan)

My attention has been called to the misinterpretation of a statement I made in the Debate on Monday. I am quoted in HANSARD as having said: It would be an interesting subject for a plebiscite as to whether this nation is in favour of being ruled by a man merely because he is the son of his father."—[OFFICIAL REPORT, 13th March, 1950; Vol. 472, c. 864.]

An Hon. Member

That is what the right hon. Gentleman said.

Mr. Bevan

I was under the impression that I used the plural and not the singular, and my reference was not made, as I am sure almost every hon. Member of the House understood, to any particular institution of our Constitution.
