HC Deb 13 March 1950 vol 472 c753
Mr. Osborne

With your permission, Mr. Speaker, I wish to make a personal statement. My attention has been drawn to the fact that on Wednesday, 8th March, during the speech of the hon. and gallant Member for Leicester, South-East (Captain Waterhouse) I made an observation on an interjection by the hon. Member for Bolton, West (Mr. J. Lewis). This observation of mine was made in a jocular way, but on looking at the OFFICIAL REPORT it might be construed as being an aspersion on the integrity of the hon. Gentleman for Bolton, West. I wish to make it clear that that was most certainly not my intention, as the hon. Member is held in great respect in political and industrial circles, and I am most anxious to correct any impression which might be erroneously gathered from the OFFICIAL REPORT.
