HC Deb 22 June 1950 vol 476 c1466
41. Dr. Stross

asked the Minister of Health whether the type of firegrate, capable of burning smokeless fuels, and which are being supplied in many new council houses, could be installed in all houses which are reconditioned under the provisions of the 1949 Housing Act; and whether he is aware that such action would greatly assist in the abatement of smoke nuisance and atmospheric pollution.

Mr. Bevan

The answer to both parts of the Question is "Yes, Sir." I have stated in the circular on this subject that solid fuel heating appliances should be improved types.
