HC Deb 22 June 1950 vol 476 c1472
54. Mr. Crouch

asked the Minister of Agriculture if, in view of his recent research into the Salmonella duck disease, he will re-introduce at an early date the blood testing scheme which was discontinued during the war.

Mr. T. Williams

No, Sir. The blood testing of ducks was abandoned because the results obtained therefrom were unreliable. Other methods of diagnosis are being studied but none suitable for general application has yet been found.

Mr. Crouch

Is the Minister aware that organised duck keepers are most anxious to improve the health of the ducks in this country?
