§ 52. Mr. Wingfield Digby
asked the Minister of Agriculture what price was paid per lb. by his Department in 1949 for Dorset Down Wool and Dorset Horn Wool respectively; and what was the average price received for each type of wool by his Department on its resale.
Mr. T. Williams
The price per lb. paid in 1949 for Dorset Down wool and Dorset Horn wool was 45d. and 40d. respectively for washed wool and 30½d. and 29½d. respectively for greasy wool. Disposal of the 1949 wool clip will not be completed until the end of July. It is not yet possible, therefore, to state the average price realised on the sale of these types of wool.
