§ 19. Mr. Sutcliffeasked the President of the Board of Trade why so long a delay occurred before the publication of last year's accounts of the Cotton Board; and if he will expedite this year's accounts.
Mr. H. WilsonLast year's accounts of the Cotton Board, 1948, were their first and the precise form had to be settled and certain subsidiary matters of accounting of an exceptional kind determined before the accounts could be presented. In these circumstances I do not consider that publication was unduly delayed, but I expect the second year's accounts will be available earlier.
§ Mr. SutcliffeCan the right hon. Gentleman give any idea of the month when they are likely to be available?
Mr. WilsonWe hope that the Cotton Board will submit their provisional accounts to the Board of Trade at the beginning of August this year, so that should speed up considerably the publication of the accounts.
