HC Deb 19 June 1950 vol 476 c838
11. Mr. Remnant

asked the Minister of Food whether he is now able to make a statement relating to the re-opening of the London tea auctions.

Mr. Webb

No, Sir, but I hope to be able to make a statement soon.

Mr. Remnant

In view of the probable shortfall of tenders for the 1950 bulk contract, will the Minister consider making an early announcement that the London tea auctions, if re-opened, will not deal with the 1950 crop, so as to eliminate any tendency to withhold tea from this-country?

Mr. Webb

I will bear that in mind.
