§ Mr. StracheyI regret that the figures for the period in question are not available. During the financial year, 1949–50, £187,750 was spent by the War Department on Regular recruiting and publicity services, of which £26,100 was on publicity alone. This worked out at £7 4s. for each Regular recruit.
