HC Deb 27 July 1950 vol 478 cc671-2
23. Viscount Hinchingbrooke

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the reason for the delay in making the first distribution of German enemy property; and when he expects this distribution to take place.

Mr. H. Wilson

I have not yet received the report of the advisory committee which was appointed to consider questions about claims to be admitted in the distribution of German enemy property and I could not at this moment say when distribution will begin.

Viscount Hinchingbrooke

Will the right hon. Gentleman at least say that he adheres to the view expressed some time ago by a Government spokesman in another place, that when the first distribution takes place, it will be at the rate of 2s. 6d. in the pound?

Mr. Wilson

I should like to see the report from the advisory committee before I say anything further about distribution. There is, of course, no change in Government policy about the rate of distribution.
