HC Deb 26 July 1950 vol 478 cc427-8
1. Mr. Perkins

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation how many landings were made by the civilian aircraft G-AHLU on Sunday, 25th June, at Filton aerodrome, during the parade of the Air Training Squadrons from Somerset, Bristol and Gloucester and the annual inspection by the Air Officer Commanding and the Lord Lieutenant.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (Mr. Beswick)

I am informed that an aircraft with the registration G-ALHU, to which the hon. Member is probably referring, made some practice landings at Filton during the parade, but stopped doing so when requested.

Mr. Perkins

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that this aircraft made several landings during this parade and that the Royal Air Force had stopped flying? Will he take steps to prevent a recurrence of such a thing next year when the parade takes place?

Mr. Beswick

Yes. Obviously, no discourtesy was intended by this happening.
