HC Deb 26 July 1950 vol 478 c460
66. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Food when Argentina is stopping the supply of meat to Britain; and how far the meat ration will be affected.

Mr. Webb

The Argentine Government suspended the loading of meat for the United Kingdom last Friday. We are, of course, considering the effect of this step, but I see no reason to change the ration at present.

Mr. Turton

Now that State buying of meat has failed, will the right hon. Gentleman allow the private buyer to operate?
