asked the Postmaster-General what is the number of the staff now employed in the delivery of letters, parcels, etc., in the United Kingdom and the corresponding number for 1939; and the volume of letters, parcels, etc., handled now compared with 1939.

Staffing figures relating solely to the delivery of postal packets are not available; but taking postmen engaged in postal deliveries, collections, facing letters, and inward sorting, the figures are as follow:
