§ 25. Mr. Haymanasked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware of the loss to hoteliers and boarding-house keepers caused by the frequent cancellation of bookings by officers of the Royal Air Force as a result of their leave being stopped at short notice; and whether he will review the practice of his Department with a view to avoiding the causing of such inconvenience.
§ Mr. A. HendersonI am not aware of any such frequent cancellations of 1339 bookings as those to which my hon. Friend refers in his Question, but if he would let me have any evidence in his possession I will be glad to make further inquiries.
§ Mr. HaymanWill my right hon. and learned Friend accept my word that there is evidence of this, and that the officers in question become liable for two-thirds to three-quarters of the amount for which they are committed in making bookings, which may react very hardly on the officers themselves. If there is such liability would the R.A.F. accept it?
§ Mr. HendersonI am quite prepared to accept my hon. Friend's statement that he has the evidence. What I should like him to do is to supply me with it.
