§ 56. Mr. F. Macleanasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he has any information regarding the whereabouts of His Majesty's Minister in Seoul and of the Bishop of Korea.
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesMr. Holt was in Seoul at the time of its capture by the North Korean Communist forces. There has been no news of him since then and it has not been possible to establish contact with him. Every effort is being made to get news of him through such channels as are open.
The Bishop of Korea is understood to have been away from Seoul at the time of its capture, but is presumed to be in that part of South Korea which has been overrun.
§ Mr. MacleanWill the hon. Gentleman say what steps have been taken to ensure that Mr. Holt and the Bishop come to no harm?
§ Mr. DaviesThat is hardly in our power at the present time, but we have instructed our Ambassador in Moscow to make inquiries of the Soviet Government to ascertain whether they can obtain any information about these persons.
