HC Deb 05 July 1950 vol 477 c447
6. Mr. Keeling

asked the Postmaster-General how long most of the larger London post offices have closed on Saturday afternoons at 2 or 4 o'clock; and why the official list of London post offices continues to state that as a rule they are open till 6 or 6.30 p.m.

The Postmaster-General (Mr. Ness Edwards)

Just over a quarter of the Crown post offices in London close at 4 p.m. or earlier on Saturdays, and the majority of these have done so for upwards of 20 years. It is proposed to include a specific reference to the early closing in the next reprint of "London Post Offices and Streets."

Mr. Keeling

If this Post Office list is worth issuing at all, should it not be kept up to date instead of being issued year after year with this incorrect information?

Mr. Ness Edwards

I agree that a mistake has been made. It will be corrected.
