§ 63. Mr. Greyasked the Minister of Transport the points of difference that exist between city and county councils in respect of the through road through Durham.
§ Mr. BarnesThere was a difference of opinion between the two councils as to the level on which the new road should be 31 constructed. I hope, however, that the consultations to which I referred in my answer of 26th June will lead to agreement.
§ Mr. GreyIs the Minister aware of the great anxiety felt in Durham about the whole position? Will he set up an independent inquiry into the reasons for the delay in putting forward the proposal?
§ Mr. BarnesI have already instituted one inquiry, and I am now anxious to get results. I do not think it would expedite matters for me to establish another inquiry.
