HC Deb 13 December 1950 vol 482 cc1135-6
8. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many Europeans are at present unemployed in Tanganyika.

Mr. J. Griffiths

I have asked the Governor for this information, in so far as it may be available, and will write to the hon. Member when I receive his reply.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

While appreciating that there are vast opportunities in Tanganyika for the right people in properly organised businesses, may I ask the right hon. Gentleman if he will make sure that the people taken out to those countries by the Overseas Food Corporation are not left with any sense of resentment against this Government?

Mr. Griffiths

That is another question.
