HC Deb 12 December 1950 vol 482 c976
37. Commander Noble

asked the Secretary of State for War how many married quarters it is now intended to build for the British troops in Austria; and where will they be situated.

Mr. Strachey

About 100. No decision has yet been reached regarding their locations.

Commander Noble

Can the Minister say what has led him to change his mind in this matter, because he gave a most categorical refusal even to consider the matter when it was raised in this House on 19th September last?

Mr. Strachey

It is not a matter which concerns my Department alone. A satisfactory arrangement has been come to with the Austrian Government, and naturally we are very glad to be able to provide the quarters.
